Last year’s ‘Weine Nicht Kind’, from Ede & Maxi Jon mined Neue Deutsche Welle and an unmistakable 80s energy, making it a memorable on Watergate Records. Twelve months on, Max Joni returns for a follow up ‘Chaoskinder’, this time linking with Berliner Maltitz.

‘Chaoskinder’ is a sleek jam that takes in elements of electro, nu disco and new wave, with a dreamy vocal and chord sequence that balance tension and pleasure on a knife’s edge. ‘The Boy Who Lost His Laugh’ blooms with glossy new romance energy, big chords and bags of nostalgic joy. The prolific Lauer lends his touch to the release, crafting a trippy, kaleidoscopic remix of ‘Chaoskinder’ that doesn’t lose any of the original’s emotion.
